Dropbox

Project

Dropbox has a beautiful and extensive brand identity developed a few years ago by the team at COLLINS. Unfortunately, unless you worked at Dropbox or were a power user of their tech it was hard to appreciate it because the identity was housed across an interconnected labyrinth of private Figma files, folders and branded applications. In 2024, Dropbox hired Daybreak Studio to build them a brand guidelines website that would display their brand to the public in all of its glory, while simultaneously leaning further into the playful, imaginative spirit of the brand. The project was featured as the site of the month on Awwards and received two Webby Awards.

Learnings

I learned a lot about how to work with large scale enterprise organizations on this project and the power of collaborating with a strong in house design team. From a technical perspective it was a nice chance for me to practice working within a brand rather than building one myself. This project was also the first one where I was ever designing assets to be animated in Rive, so I learned about best practices and constraints around that.
